purEntropy

My life is brilliant.
My love is pure.
I saw an angel.
Of that I'm sure.
She smiled at me on the subway.
She was with another man.
But I won't lose no sleep on that,
'Cause I've got a plan.

You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true,
I saw your face in a crowded place,
And I don't know what to do,
Cause I'll never be with you.

Yeah, she caught my eye,
As I walked on by.
She could see from my face that I was,
Fucking high,
And I don't think that I'll see her again,
But we shared a moment that will last till the end.

You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
I saw your face in a crowded place,
And I don't know what to do,
'Cause I'll never be with you.

You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
There must be an angel with a smile on her face,
When she thought up that I should be with you.
But it's time to face the truth,
I will never be with you

UBC Day, Blarney Stone....

Yes I know, It's been awhile, the time I usually write my BLOG with has been somewhat occupied. But I'm not done!

So catching up, UBC day friday, went out to UBC with Jazz and met up with Amin and cruised UBC. Built the great Rez throne, went in a mosh pit, saw sex with Sue, trooped around UBC, got addicted to candy, paroused a Beta frat party, met some interesting people. I will return. UBC has not seen the last of me.

Saturday night, Blarney stone, Dan, Kev, Dar, Mike, + Others, was fun as always, played some pool, NICE SHOOTING DARIUS!!!!! (inside joke), we'll be back there soon I have little doubt.

Bit of a quiter week this week, had to many papers last week + reading. But good to get some stuff out of the way. Only got a Comp Sci project due this week.

In other news, I am now determined to get 2 things:

1. A new hat.
2. To start a music project, with a few interesting people, hopefully friends. We'll see, I've got a few ideas.

"Mr., Look at your girl, she LOVES it." - N.E.R.D (I think it sums up the weekend fairly well gentlemen.)

Out of exile...

When I first came to this island
that I called by my own name
I was happy in this fortress,
in my exile I remained
But the hours grew so empty
and the ocean sent her waves
In the figure of a woman
and she pulled me out to sea

When you come down to take me home
send my soul away
When you come round you'll make me whole
send my soul away

On the altar of a sunrise
was a wedding in the waves
And inside her shown a young light
from her labor I was saved
Though I've traveled long in darkness
in her harvest I'm embraced

Now the spires and the gables
grow in orchards to the sky
And the blessings on my table
multiply and divide

Send my soul away

I took that photo on the beaches near Cannon Beach Oregon and I love that song.

From yesterday to tommorow,

J

Laugh along...

...with the common people even though they are laughing at you!

What am I writing about? I don't really know. I am so sick of pretentious people and their opinions about other people. I hear so much shit about people, talking behind people’s backs, its ridicules. People need to be a hell of a lot nicer to each other. I really don’t have any personal complaints, I choose my friends carefully, but the level of degradation between what some people call “friends” is just ridicules. I find it most frustrating when I see a friend go through this, especially a female one. I want to ask why they are putting up with that, and yet perhaps they need it. And yet is it the duty of a good friend to speak? I think so. I am undecided.

I will elaborate more on this in my next entry as I have a pressing need for sleep.

The party’s over and the road is long,

Pool and the Folks

Blogging - Day 3. A new record (it was previously two). My grandparents have been in town this weekend, so I haven't had my usual amount of time for political phil. or discussion but it will be the main theme, never fear there's a tidbit at the bottom. Day tripped out to Steveson, had some hot chocolat.

Squeezed in a little pool tonight with Nick and Kevin between the Grandparents and studying, not a bad game I didn't lose horribly (like Nick). Working a bit tmrw and doing a lot of research, I've got figure out what to write my papers for civil socities in the Muslim world and Theories of war, peace, and conflict on.

Steven Harper made an idiot of himself for the first of no doubt many times in refusing to talk to Hamas. Insult a ruling poltical party with a militant wing. Brilliant. Alienating people is sure to make them respect you and change their attitudes towards you! What better way to initiate dialogue and go about promoting change in the middle east than to supress and shun their DEMOCRATICLY elected leaders. I was suprised he managed to remove his lips from Bush's ass long enough to formulate a complete sentence. If he reforms the senate properly and makes the Quebecois speak english I just might be able to forgive him that one.

Good night and good luck,

J

Blog Switching and the Sajoo effect

Well I lasted exactly one day on Livejournal. I don't like it. Too much journal, not enough blog. Or as Jon Stewart would say "Too much Sha, not enough nah nah nah." (Some of you may even get that. On that note, there will be ALOT of "informed" jokes around so ask if you want to know or do a little research). Continuing on through meta-topical space....

It started off as any other friday morning...with an intense mind-filling and thought provoking lecture I'm not REALLY ready for at 9:30am. This is a four hour seminar on a friday morning about Muslim: Civil Societies that runs the FULL 4 hours without fail (so far anyways). Right now your thinking, "YAWN!", however you are INCORRECT! It is intense, thought provoking, and fills your head with so much information you may really not be able to handle it. I give Dr. Sajoo full credit for making a four hour seminar interesting and memorable, I don't think I have ever had as long a lecture with no sleepers and very few unanimated people. This is not a class for the faint of heart or quiet minded. You WILL delve into the realms of civil society in the Muslim world and you WILL learn views, opinions, facts, related subject matter, theories of evolution and progress and much more. It is intense, at times heated, and above else, FUN. It is one of the most enjoyable classes I have taken to date.

Dr. Sajoo I salute you. For running your class not like a highschool discussion but as an educated and informative four hour block in which students come to expand and alter their own ideas and conceptions of both civil society within the Muslim world and on a global scale.

If your at all interested in Dr. Sajoo's work you can read an article by him online: The Ethics of the Public Square: A Preliminary Muslim Critique.

Thats enough for tonight, I'm trying to think of an amusing one-liner to put at the end of these token thought pieces but I am currently without stimulation, but I digress...

Cheers,

J

(How often do I get to say "but I digress"? Not nearly enough!)

Another Resolution Unkept (Day old)

Well I swore I would keep a blog this year, so here goes. I'm going to hold of spreading any word of this until I have at least a weeks worth of entries. However, despite that, I am going to bed now, since I have pol 339 tmrw with Prof. Sajoo. I'll need my wits about me!

Hopefully this works.

Cheers,

J
